Distinguishing Characteristics
  • All three pectens with equally fine teeth.
  • Swimming hair at base of second segment of three segmented ramus extends beyond end of ramus
  • Ocellus present, eye large
  • Second abdominal process about 1/4 length of first and is similar in size or smaller when compared to the third
  • Spines cover about 1/2 of the ventral margin of the valve
  • Moderately large (1-2 mm) with elongate body
  • Long shell spine commonly two-thirds or longer than valves
