Anthophysa  Bory de Saint-Vincent 1822; 4 of 10 species descriptions are currently accepted taxonomically (Guiry and Guiry 2014).

Order Chromulinales;  Family Chromulinaceae

 

Morphology:

Branched colony of colorless (heterotrophic) cells.  Colony either free-swimming or attached to a substrate.  Older stalks of colonies become encrusted with deposits of calcium phosphate and precipitates of iron and manganese.
