General Description
- Cells are spherical, sometimes appearing cleaved, and contained in a hollow sphere called a sheath
- Colonies are relatively small, with cells arranged in pairs; 2, 4, 6, 8 etc.
- Gloeocapsa and Chroococcus are similar in morphology, varying by the color of their gelatinous sheath
- Chrooccocus has a colorless sheath (mucilagenous case), while Gloeocapsa has varyious colors
