Taxonomic Notes
  • (1) It appears that male L. coloradensis may have a small variable membrance on the antepenultimate segment of the right antenna. Wilson and Yeatman (1959) state that segment 23 of the male right antenna in L. coloradensis does not have a hyaline membrane, while the closely related species L. tyrrelli has a small variable membrane on the distal end of the segment. Marsh (1915) noted that some collections of L. tyrrelli lacked a hyaline membrane, it could be possible that this feature is subject to some degree of variation in both species. The specimens of L. coloradensis we photographed were from Trappers Lake, Colorado (elevation 2934m); all other taxonomic features were consistent with L. coloradensis.
