Distinguishing Characteristics
  • Body ovoid.
  • Single anterior mucro.
  • Body length = 180 - 200 µm, toe = 90 - 100 µm.
  • Often associated with eutrophic waters.
Additional Notes
  • Trichocerca can use pedal glands to produce mucous secretions to attach to substrates. The secretions may also be an energetic mechanism to stay suspended in the water column.
