Acanthocystis (Actinopoda: Heliozoa)

Acanthocystis turfacea from Hoyt Pond, Madbury, NH USA. Bristles are >50 uM in length with bifurcate tips.
Multiple green discoid chloroplasts are endobiotic Zoochlorella. Photo by John Dufresne, University of New Hampshire, Durham USA

[I am indebted to Uriel Ruíz García in Mexico for correctly identifying this cell. He noticed the multiple endobiotic chloroplasts and bifurcate tips on the 'bristles' and suggested it is the fairly common species A. turfacea. August 2021.]

A smaller example from the same lake sample.
