Imperfections in glass or plastic microscope slides large enough to be seen in the light microscope usually are scratches etched when a corner of one slide traverses the face of another slide. The scratch can be misinterpreted as biological, e.g. a cyanobacterial trichome or an insect antenna, etc. |
