Classification:

Plagiogramma Greville, 1859;  28 of 37 species descriptions are currently accepted taxonomically (Guiry and Guiry 2013).

Order Triceratiales;  Family Plagiogrammaceae

Morphology:

Short chain of centric diatoms that in valve view are bilaterally symmetric, appearing to be pinnate.  Short spines on edges of valve.  Punctae uniseriate within transverse striae.

Habitat:

Marine benthos.
