Lemba,
an enthusiastic young student of Field Lake Ecology who loves to enterain in
class. She and her classmates are growing up and entering that age
where they are mischievous, and interested primarily in their own agenda. |

Jeje,
a more serious student in Field Lake Ecology. Like a young child,
Jeje sometimes resorts to annoying others to relieve his boredom. He
asks penetrating questions that belie his youth. |

Falero
is a somewhat introspective and especially bright student with
an accelerated childhood who reached university level ahead of his
age. As academic leader of his classmates he is given great respect,
even though he is an imp of a chimp at times. |
|
La
Vielle ("Old Woman"), a kindly and understanding Professor of
Limnology, oversees rambunctious students. She has instructed
generations of young watermites. |
