Morphology:
|
||||
Stellate
or mulberry-shaped colonies of 8 – 16 cells located in 4-celled tiers with no
mucilaginous matrix. Ovoid to
pear-shaped cells with a posterior tail.
Four isocontic flagella, two contractile
vacuoles and a large cup-shaped chloroplast per cell. Rarely
reported. No
culture studies have been carried out, and its existence has been questioned
(Guiry and Guiry 2013). |
