Morphology:

Green colonies of cells
often conjoined by mucilage stalks.
Cell shape varies from oviod to spindle
or fuiform, with a basal pad (sometimes with
flagella protruding) that attaches it to the substratum. In the presence of abundant iron the pad
will take on a red color. [In phycokey Characiochloris
can be found with both green unflagellated unicells and green unflagellated
colonies.] |
