Classification:

Diplochloris  Korschikov  1939;  3 of 9 species descriptions are currently accepted taxonomically (Guiry and Guiry 2013)

Order Chlorococcales; Family Scotiellocystoidaceae

Morphology:

Colonies of pairs of cells dispersed in mucilage.  Cells elongate and fusiform or curved with rounded ends, or in one species ovoid shaped cells.

Similar genera:

Ankistrodesmus, Selenastrum.

Habitat:

Freshwater, mainly in central Europe (Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary).
