Pairs
of trapezoidal or 'eared' cells, flat bases appressed. |

Similar genera:
|
||||
Cell shape closely resembles horned or
‘eared’ cells in the outer ring of Pediastrum
colonies. Zoospore formation, activity
and release as a group in ‘sacs’ is also similar to Pediastrum. |

Habitat:
|
||||
Freshwater plankton. Rare relic species
observed mainly in six wetland sites (swamps) in boreal mountains of northern
Ukraine. |
