matrix, generally lamellated (layered) Rarely found individual cells are
spherical with smooth cell walls. Almost always formed in a spherical to
amorphous glob of a colony surrounded by a mucus envelope |

Habitat:

Freshwater lake plankton in tropical
and temperate climates. Also found on rocks and in soils. |
