Morphology:

Nonflagellated colonies, typically 16
cells, with a thick mucilaginous envelope, up to 250μm diameter. Groups of 4 cells frequently occur, or cells
may be arranged in rings or dispersed throughout matrix. Cell wall fragments are often apparent, although
they slowly dissolve. |
