(in which cells are not closely appressed) embedded in a thick gelatinous
sheath. One parietal or laminate
chloroplast with a single pyrenoid per cell. |

Freshwater plankton in marshes and shallow lakes. Has been reported as an epiphyte or
aufwuchs (sitting upon but not firmly attached), or even from a terrestrial
