Morphology: |
||||
Short green unbranched
filaments not more than 4 cells long.
Cells with up to 8 discoid chloroplasts, mostly 1-4. |

Similar genera: |
||||
Stichococcus is morphologically similar
but lacks pyrenoids. Xanthonema (syn. Heterothrix) in the Tribophyceae
is similar morphologically but lacks starch. |
||||
Habitat: |
||||
Soil.
There are just two records, one from India in a soil culture, and another
from northeastern Pakistan (Zarina et al. 2005). |
