Name derivation:

 

Classification:

Anadyomene J.V.Lamouroux, 1812; There are 30 species of which 13 have been taxonomically accepted (Guiry and Guiry 2013).

Order Cladophorales; Family Anadyomenaceae. Currently 19 species.

Morphology:

Thallus with foliaceous blades up to 25 cm long.  Cells pyriform or clavate, up to 3 mm long, arranged in stellate patterns with secondary interstitial cells.

Habitat:

Marine, tropical in shallow water down to more than 60 m depth.
