Classification:

 Udotea  J.V. Lamouroux, 1812;  35 of 70 species descriptions are currently accepted taxonomically (Guiry and Guiry 2016).

Order Bryopsidales;  Family Udoteaceae

Morphology:

Siphonous (coenocytic) unicell with funnel or fan-shaped blades, calcified, and mass of rhizoids that are uncaldified.  Blades have dichotomous braned siphons.

Habitat:

 Marine benthos in tropical to subtropical regions, widespread.  Depth range from 1 to 46 m.
