Chrysostephanosphaera Scherffel 1011; 1 of 2 described species are accepted taxonomically (Guiry 2012). Order Chromulinales; Family Chrysamoebaceae
Morphology:
Discoid colonies of cells with numerous rhizopodia (pseudopodia). Cells produce zoospores with one emergent flagellum. Colonies surrounded by many symbiotic bacteria.
Habitat:
Epiphytic on other algae (Guiry 2012)
