Cryptomonas cf. ovata
Cryptomonas spp. are a favorite food of many grazing zooplankton such as Daphnia and Bosmina (Haney, personal communication). Cells are most concentrated near the thermocline at light intensities < 10% of surface illumination (Baker 1973).
