Name derivation:

 

Classification:

Camptylonemopsis  T.V.Desikachary, 1948;  Eight species are described and currently six recognized.

Order Nostocales;  Family Scytonemataceae (Komárek 2003, or Microchaetaceae (Guiry 2012).

 

Morphology:

Unbranched trichomes, blue-green, yellowish or pale grayish blue

Similar genera:

 

Habitat:

Benthic;  epiphytic and epilithic, in unpolluted freshwater areas, mainly tropical and relatively rare.  Known from Brazil, China, India, Pakistan, and Russia.
