Stichosiphon (Cyanophyceae)

Stichon sp.  Although unicellular, Stichosiphon produces several exospores that remain adjoined in the sheath for extended periods of time, forming pseudofilaments. They are eventually released from the sheath through the open end. Modified from image by Ralf Wagner, Denmark
