Morphology:
Unicellular biflagellate 50 – 120 μm long with a prominent ocelloid near the apex. Sulcus is a straight line on hyposome and spirals once or twice in episome. No chloroplasts. The ocelloid has a lens and a retinal body (pigment cup). A‘piston’ can extend and retract 200 μm, several times per second (Ibid.). .
