Morphology: |

Tetrahedral unicells with four "fingers" (projections) at the end of each arm. Produces uniflagellate zoospores (Ott and Oldham-Ott 2003). |

Staurastrum (Charophyceae) has a superficially similar outline. |

Habitat: |
||||
Bog plankton; often associated with Sphagnum or sedges. In North America Pseudostaurastrum has been collected in Alaska and Minnesota USA (Ott and Oldham-Ott 2003). |
