Morphology: |
||||
Cartilaginous with radial to bilateral branching, often with papillae. Medulla of axis is filamentous and compact, or a mix of large cells and thin rhizoidal filaments. Inner cortex has large hyaline cells, outer cortex has small pigmented cells (Dawes and Mathieson 2008). |
