Microdictyon  Decaisne  1841

Order Cladophorales;  Family Anadyomenaceae

Morphology:

Thallus with reticulate highly branched uniseriate filaments forming one or more blades up to 10 cm tall.  Cells multinucleate with numerous chloroplasts.  Adventitious rhizoids are common.

Alternation (diploid and haploid) of isomorphic generations.

Marine, tropical and subrtropical in flat reef habitats.
