She is a Daphnia rosea from the Old Durham Reservoir right
on campus.
In the late summer of 2004, there were over 100 of these mommas
per liter in the reservoir.
This
is a Daphniaambigua we keep in culture.
She is also from the Old Durham Reservoir (ODR) right
on campus.
I never found very many of these in ODR, but they are present in
the lower depths.
These
are Daphniapulex.
This is a very common species. Almost too common. They
are such good competitors that they elimnated many of the Daphnia
hyalina I was culturing .An accidental introduction is NOT fun.
