Trigonium  Cleve  1867;  4 of 53 species descriptions are currently accepted taxonomically (Guiry and Guiry 2013).

Order Biddulphiales; Family Biddulphiaceae

 

Morphology:

Zig-zag colonies of triangular to multi-angular cells in valve view.  Several discoid chloroplasts.   [Images of colonies or pseudofilaments are currently unavailable.]

 

Similar genera:

Triceratium, a synonym according to Simonsen (1974).

 

Habitat:

Attached to macro-marine protists (‘seaweeds’).  Widespread, most abundant in warm ocean areas.
