Neidium  Pfitzer  1871; 75 of 246 species descriptions are currently accepted taxonomically (Guiry and Guiry 2013).

Order Naviculales; Family Neidiaceae

 

Morphology:

Unicellular biraphes with uniseriate striae lying perpendicular to long axis of valve.

Habitat:

Freshwater, slightly acidic water, widely distributed by generally uncommon (Spaulding and Edlund 2009).
