Chrysophaeum taylorii I.F. Lewis and H.F. Bryan 1941; one species (C. taylorii) has been described and is currently accepted taxonomically (Guiry and Guiry 2016).Order Sarcinochrysidales; Family SarcinochrysidaceaeSometimes placed in Class Pelagophyceae within the Ochrophytes (Ibid.).

Morphology: |
||||
Macroscopic gelatinous colonies up to 6 cm tall, dull yellow ‘mustard’ color, with cells on streamers. Cells 49 – 118 µm long and 24 – 38 µm wide (Dawes and Mathieson 2008).

Habitat: |

Marine subtropical to tropical, benthic, shallow to ~ 45 m depth. Reported from Guam (Lobban et al. 1995) and the Great Barrier Reef, Australia (Schaffelke et al. 2004)..
