Name derivation:

True little changer -- True Eu- little changer –treptiella

Morphology:

Free swimming unicell, green (numerous chloroplasts), with two emergent flagella unequal in length (different from Eutreptia). An eyespot is present.

Similar genera:

Eutreptia has two flagella of equal length.

Habitat:

Typically found in brackish and marine environment, where it sometimes forms blooms.
